Gemstone: Pyrope - Almandine Garnet - 20.70 Cts.

Nearly a decade after the discovery of neon pink Spinels in 2007 from the Mahenge region of Tanzania, a then 'new' material referred to as "Mahenge" Garnet started to appear from the locality in a variety of colors ranging from a peachy-pink to reddish-pink often with purple and orange tones, near the end of 2015.
Garnets of various types came from the site including Pyrope represented by this stunner that weighs an impressive 20.7 carats. The expert step cut faceting accentuates the inherent qualities of this spectacular cushion cut gem. The center exhibits intersecting needles forming a crystal cluster, and there is a minor feather at the corner. The beautiful needles visible add depth to this reddish-orange stone. This elegant gemstone is arguably the finest example of the Pyrope Garnet type ever produced from the mine now famous for Garnets.
    Measurements: 16.16 x 15.51 x 10.45 mm, 20.70 cts.

    Provenance: The Jena Blue Collection
