DescriptionGemstone: "Paraíba-Type" Tourmaline - 7.02 Cts.
Tourmalines with the "Paraíba" color are some of the most sought after by collectors and jewelers alike. After Paraíba Tourmaline was originally discovered in Paraíba, Brazil, the demand skyrocketed for the intensely colored material, and the initial locality was quickly exhausted. It has been noted that a few Tourmaline localities in Africa yield the same Copper-bearing type of material as the original Brazilian source. As a result, the classification of "paraíba-type" Tourmaline was "officially" instituted by trade organizations in order to clearly define this special colored variety of Tourmaline. This African stone is of the "paraíba-type" and has the greenish-blue hue so associated with such material. This incredible 7+ carat stone has a stylish oval shape and features a modified brilliant cut and amazing luster. The stone is included, which is very common for Tourmalines. This world-class stone is truly something special.
