Gemstone: "Paraíba Type" Tourmaline - 49.58 Cts.

After Paraíba Tourmaline was originally discovered in Paraíba, Brazil, the demand skyrocketed for the intensely colored material, and the initial locality was quickly exhausted. It has been noted that a few Tourmaline localities in Africa yield the same Copper-bearing type of material as the original Brazilian source. As a result, the classification of "paraíba-type" Tourmaline was "officially" instituted by trade organizations in order to clearly define this special colored variety of Tourmaline. This African stone is accompanied by an AGL certification (CS 60652) stating it is of the "paraíba-type" and has the greenish-blue hue so associated with such material. The large, nearly 50 carat Elabaite gem, has a classic cushion shape with a modified brilliant cut. This gorgeous stone exhibits an incredible brilliance and scintillation. The gemstone is eye-clean, with only the tiniest of nicks on the pavilion. This world-class stone is truly something special.
    Measurements: 24.03 x 22.24 x 13.62 mm, 49.58 cts.

Accompanied by AGL Certificate CS 60652
