Description

Gemstone: Kunzite - 510.44 Cts.
Unknown Locality

This monumental 510.44-carat Kunzite is a commanding example of both scale and lapidary precision. Executed in a bold pear shape with modified brilliant faceting, the gemstone exhibits exceptional symmetry and balance, reflecting the work of a highly skilled cutter who began with an unusually large, gem-quality crystal. Kunzite, the pink-to-lilac variety of Spodumene colored by Manganese within the mineral's crystal structure, is typically admired for its soft, pastel tones. In striking contrast, this example displays an intense, highly saturated pinkish purple bodycolor of remarkable vibrancy. The color is evenly distributed and animated by excellent brilliance and lively scintillation, further enhanced by a superior polish and sharp facet junctions. The stone is eye-clean and presents in near-pristine condition, with only one very minor nick to a table facet and trivial blemishes visible under magnification. Its clarity, size, and precision faceting elevate it well beyond the ordinary. Kunzite is primarily sourced from Afghanistan and Brazil, and fine examples of this magnitude are seldom encountered. Due to the species' known sensitivity to prolonged ultraviolet exposure, care should be taken to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Grand in scale and museum-worthy in presence, this 510.44-carat gemstone is less a jewel than a statement object, an optical sculpture of color and light, ideal for display in a distinguished collection. A custom plastic display stand accompanies the piece.
