Description

Opals

Gemstone: Fire Opal - 39.34 Cts.
Queretaro
Mexico

For more than a century, Querétaro, Mexico, has been regarded as the definitive source for fine Fire Opal, producing stones prized for their vivid, flame-like coloration and exceptional transparency. This impressive 39.34-carat example stands as a compelling representation of the variety on a notable scale. Displaying a highly saturated yellowish orange bodycolor, the gem radiates warmth and intensity, its tone beautifully balanced across the elongated oval form. A soft, luminous haze, iconic to fine Mexican Fire Opal, adds depth, giving the stone its signature glowing opalescence. Fashioned in an elegant oval with modified brilliant faceting, the cut enhances light return and produces very good brilliance across the expansive surface. Some windowing is present, consistent with the elongated proportions, yet the overall presentation remains vibrant and lively. The stone is in excellent condition, with one small inclusion visible through the table. Large, transparent Fire Opals from Mexico remain enduringly admired, particularly examples exhibiting strong saturation and classic opalescent character. Substantial in weight and unmistakable in origin, this 39.34-carat specimen offers both collector appeal and exceptional potential as the focal point of a dramatic custom jewelry piece.
