    Description

    Chrome Tourmaline

Gemstone: Chrome Tourmaline - 32.60 Cts.
    Tanzania

Unlike the other, even green, varieties of Tourmaline, vibrant color and Chromium content sets Chrome Tourmaline apart from the rest of the Tourmaline family. First discovered in Tanzania in the 1970's, this material comes exclusively from East Africa. Highly prized by Tourmaline collectors, good stones over 2 carats of the forest green variety are rather uncommon. Rarer than Emerald, or even Tsavorite Garnet, Chrome Tourmaline exists in rarefied air and demands a substantial premium in terms of market value. This incredibly stunning Chrome Tourmaline dubbed "The Kilimanjaro" boasts a phenomenal trilliant cut and is simply as superb an example as is likely to be seen. Named in honor of the tallest mountain on the African continent, which just happens to overlook the famous Landanai Mine in Tanzania, this is among the largest and finest gem quality Tourmalines the region has ever produced. Weighing an incomprehensible 32.6 carats, the gorgeous vivid green example is free of any visible scratches or nicks to the surface, with only natural crystal inclusions consistent with the coveted material. The enormous stone also exhibits an intriguing subtle color shift to darker green. There are not enough superlatives to describe this fine gem.
    Measurements: 23.42 x 21.85 x 12.92 mm, 32.60 cts.

    Provenance: The Jena Blue Collection
