Description
Gemstone: Ceylon Sapphire - 4.98 Cts.Sri Lanka (Ceylon)
Mined from one of the world's most legendary sources of high-quality Sapphires-Sri Lanka, this stunning Ceylon Sapphire embodies elegance and prestige. Treasured for centuries by royalty, collectors, and gem enthusiasts alike, this distinguished variety of Corundum is both iconic and breathtaking. The notable nearly 5-carat gem has been well-cut and polished into a chic cushion shape with modified mixed-cut faceting. The crown features modified brilliant facets, and the pavilion showcases step-cut facets, creating incredible scintillation, very good brilliance, and vivid luster. Eye-clean and exhibiting a highly saturated and well-balanced blue bodycolor, the gem comes to life with pleochroic coloring as flashes of green and purple are seen when the stone is moved and viewed. Under magnification, gorgeous silk and a few other natural inclusions are visible, with one inclusion reaching the surface of the pavilion. Otherwise, the stone is in excellent condition. Accompanied by an AGL (American Gemological Laboratories) Prestige Gemstone Report, attesting to the Ceylon origin and heat treatment-common for the type to modify color and clarity, the stone is associated with an older GIA (Gemological Institute of America) report via the GIA database, also confirming the gem's impressive characteristics. Sourced from one of the oldest and most revered Sapphire sources, this significant offering is a true collector's gem-an exquisite and sizable piece of natural history and fine craftsmanship.
