From 1996 to 2003, the tourmaline gem mines of Nigeria were producing fine, intensely pink tourmaline. This particular gemstone dates back to 1998, when the bulk of the finest cutting rough was available. Unfortunately, very little Nigerian gem tourmaline with this intense cranberry red color has been found in recent years. Facetted by Spectrum award winner Mark Kaufman, this luscious gemstone weighs an impressive 49.9 carats. It is a bright and lively stone with very intense and saturated deep cranberry color. A true collectors gemstone, this cushion cut gem would be a centerpiece in any collection.
