This Ethiopian export weighing 4.79 carats displays a lovely, elongated pear shape and bright patches of "fire." The semi-transparent Opal lights up with all the spectral colors, including blue, green, yellow, and even red. The medium-domed cabochon is in excellent condition with outstanding polish and 360-degree color with a nice, "multi-fire" flash pattern. The gemstone has undergone heat treatment to darken the background color to a rich black. This is one exceptional Ethiopian Opal.
