Description
Gemstone: Opal - 39.01 Cts.Ethiopia
Highly impactful, this natural 39.01-carat Ethiopian Opal is a true standout, showcasing one of the most coveted patterns found in Ethiopian Opals: honeycomb. Fashioned into an oval cabochon, the gem displays an intricate, repeating mosaic in which the individual "cells" flash independently, producing a mosaic of spectral color. Set against a translucent, milky-white background color, the Opal's vibrant display is both captivating and reminiscent of confetti. As the stone is moved and viewed, sweeping flashes of green, yellow, and blue ignite across the main face, creating a magnificent visual presentation. Expertly cut and polished, the medium-domed cabochon features a smooth finish, a slightly convex base, and a beveled girdle. While the belly of the cabochon exhibits no play-of-color and the reverse displays more subdued rolling flashes, the Opal is in excellent condition overall. The primary pattern and face-up play-of-color are truly spellbinding, making this one exceptional and highly impressive example of Ethiopian Opal.
