Ethiopia is fast becoming the second largest producer of Opals in the world. This market trend is due to the quality and lower price points of the African material in comparison to Australian Opals. This impressive nearly 30 carat cabochon features a pear shape with a medium dome and a flat cut bottom. The stone has been polished all around emphasizing its vibrant "play-of-color." The intense "fire" is evident as the stone lights up with strong flashes of blue, green, purple, red, yellow and orange. The combination is hard to beat. This somewhat transparent cabochon is in excellent condition.
