CLASSIC OREGON PICTURE JASPER SUITE
Owhyee Mountains of Eastern Oregon, near the Idaho border
The Owyhee Jasper is very famous for their "scenic" patterns and fine polish. There are three Jasper mines within a mile of each other; this select suite of cabochons is from two of those mines: the Owyhee Gem and the Rocky Butte. The scenes in these cabochons are reminiscent of windswept canyons in the desert with blue grey skies - it's hard to believe that these dramatic pictures are natural occurrences. The top oval, left spear, left round and large bottom triangle cabochons are all from Owyhee Gem Mine. The large center oval, right trapazoid and right teardrop cabochons are from the Rocky Butte mine. They range in size from 30 x 31 mm to 101 x 69 x 69 mm. All are in excellent condition with mirror bright polish.
