Black Opal Cabochon - 125.65 Cts.

This one-of-a-kind Opal features a heart-shaped cut and a double-layered cabochon style. The large 125+ carat example has excellent play-of-color, which is both aesthetic and highly concentrated. The 'top layer' of the specimen has bright flashes of neon green, blue, and yellow, while the 'bottom layer' has rare red, orange, and pink 'fire.' The color presents in a moss or sheen pattern that visually looks like paintbrush strokes. The gemstone's dark gray-to-black background color creates the perfect canvas for the precious Opal to come to life. The dark backside has been polished and has remnant white potch matrix spots, a few collection markings, and a white sticker with the carat weight, but, otherwise, this phenomenal example is in excellent condition. The exceptionally rare and sizable material hails from Australia - the world's Opal capital.
