    More Information:

Walter Lamb was best known for his series of bronze furniture that he designed for Brown Jordan out of Pasadena, California in the mid-1940s.  Just after World War II, in Hawaii, Lamb started making his simple curved forms from bronze and copper pieces culled from sunken naval ships in Pearl Harbor.  The seats and backs were hand wrapped with cotton and cording ..  Brown Jordan purchased the design patent for his series just after 1945 and, once the supply of recycled materials had been depleted, began manufacturing Lamb's designs to the same specifications.  Lamb designs from this period have a remarkable patina, and are praised by outdoor furniture enthusiasts because the bronze leaves no marks on the surface beneath as it ages.  Copies of the original invoices accompany these lots.
