"I was born in South Dakota and raised in the Black Hills. My father was a physician in the C.C.C. (The Civilian Conservation Corps) during the time that (the artist) Borglum was carving out Mt. Rushmore. We lived in a one room log cabin during my father's stay with the C.C.C. with no running water and no electricity. The cabin was a short distance from Mount Rushmore and as a young child I remember the carving of the monument. After WWII my father returned from the war and we moved to California." Maker, John Nyquist
