    From the estate of William Randolph Hearst;
    A wedding gift from Marion Davies to Paul and Janet.

    "Marion Davies was a good friend of Janet's," Paul recalled."Sometime after William Randolph Hearst had passed away, she ran into Janet. She knew we'd gotten married and said, 'Why don't you come down to Santa Monica where all these things intended for the Hearst Castle were stored?' They weren't even unpacked. He [Hearst] had brought them from England and they were intended for San Simeon. And there was this armoire Janet liked very much. I went down the next day to see it and said, 'It's going to have to be bleached because it's as dark, as dark as your shoes!' The man I had bleach it is gone now. He was Canadian, [and] had a shop on Sunset Boulevard, on the Sunset Strip. ...Marion gave this to us as a wedding gift."
