    Languedoc, Breccia, and Turquin blue inlaid marble top, stop fluted skirt; massive cabriole legs with spreading stretcher centered by an acroteria with foliate crest; paw feet

    PROVENANCE: Acquired in Paris, late 20th c.

    Condition Report*:

    Structurally sound; top has various old fills and repaired fissures to rouge marble outer band, underneath with limestone slab hand chiseling; Top proportionally different and larger than base and lacks a "ghost" indicating it is an period association; gilded surface is appropritate but probably later with areas of 20th c. gold paint touch ups and scattered small losses; Ochre paint on underside probably later; skirt and legs have been rejoined; Old peg repairs  Old iron blace reinforcements at stretcher joins c. 19th c.; loss to lobe carving to sides of one foot; one foot repaired accross width and reattached
