    With a rectangular canopy ornamented with carved and pierced Gothic-style moldings, the frieze carved with scrolling acanthus leaves, on rectangular posts carved with tracery, scrolling acanthus leaves, flowerheads, and quatrefoils, each surmounted by a pointed arch topped with acanthus leaf finials, the headboard carved with a large central rectangular panel framed with acanthus leaves, flanked by smaller panels carved with tracery, the footboard carved with a large central ogee arched panel, two bearded and winged mythical beasts perched on scrolling acanthus leaves, a small painted ivory panel between with Masonic imagery, including a crest with two stars, a recumbent lion, an artist's palette, and a seated dog, over joined hands and the initials b and s, the banner inscribed with the French proverb: FAIS CE QUE DOIS ADVIENNE QUE POURRA (Always do your duty, come what may!), topped by a knight's bust over a crescent moon, and surmounted by a bronze eagle perched on a globe, flanked by smalled rectangular panels carved with tracery, the side rails carved with alternating panels of pointed and rounded quatrefoils centered by flowerheads, on stepped plinth feet; together with a tufted mattress and box springs
