    The desk accented with burl wood panels to exterior and interior, stepped pediment topped with three gadrooned finials and applied foliate elements, above two curve-topped doors each with applied roundels and swag elements in relief, the doors opening on cast metal hinges to reveal forty paper postcard-size boxes each with metal pulls to one side and the other side with document and letter rack compartments of various sizes, the center with drop front desk and leather writing surface revealing additional letter compartments and drawers, all above four central drawers flanked by additional horizontal and vertical document compartments, and resting on fitted castors.

    The desk is presented with several books, catalogues, and pamphlets relating to William S. Wooton and the Wooton Desk.

    Condition Report*: Exquisite craftmanship with rich expressive grain throughout and original hardware, two hinged doors open to reveal a drop front desk and compartmented interior, some minor marks and faint scratches to leather writing surface as is expected with age and use, replaced strips of wood to left and right of manufacturer label, some fading and rubbing to ebonized trim and details, especially to right side, and minor fills and touch ups scattered throughout, otherwise presenting well.
