The rectangular top above a torus-molded and floral carved apron, on three carved pedestals with four reeded and cornucopia carved scrolling supports, centering an elaborate pineapple finial on a plinth base with leaf and paw carved feet, with three leaves.
According to Smith's article for The Magazine Antiques, this dining table served as the boardroom table at Aetna Life Insurance Company prior to its acquisition by the Winterthur Museum.
Condition Report*:
Restorations: two later 26-1/2 inch leaves and center pedestal. Otherwise, in good condition, with wear commensurate with age and indicative of use, scratches to top of table, top dips slightly when additional leaves are in place.
