    A Pair of Monumental Sèvres-style Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Vases with Lids

    Unknown maker, painting signed by J. Pascault, France
    Late Nineteenth Century
    Porcelain with polychrome enamel and gilt decoration, gilt bronze
    Marks: MADE IN FRANCE, interlaced L's enclosing L8 over S
    39 inches high

    Of baluster form with dark blue ground, painted with amorous couples in a garden with one onlooking laborer, framed by elaborate gilt scroll decoration; the reverses with garden landscapes framed by gilt reed decoration; gilt bronze acanthus handles, beaded collar at conforming neck and rim, dome shaped lids with acorn finials; plain collar and conforming socle with beaded gilt bronze rim and square base with canted corners.
