    A Louis XV-Style Mahogany and Gilt Bronze Writing Desk, 19th century

    PROPERTY FROM A DALLAS GENTLEMAN COLLECTOR

    The desk having two leather-lined squared-pyriform figured compartments to each side embellished with gilt bronze acanthus leaf mounts, joined by raised elongated case surmounted by gilt bronze gallery gating, below to two drawers flanking leather-lined compartment, curved writing surface fitted with green leather insert with gilt trim, lower apron with three drawers, right drawer divided into five chambers, apron and drawers embellished with gilt bronze scrolled foliate mounts and handles, case shoulders with ram's head mounts, case sides with figural bacchanal head mounts, the entirety raised on slight cabrioled legs terminating on foliate gilt bronze sabots.


    Condition Report*: Some age-related cracking to veneer, some scattered chipping to veneer, light areas of restoration to areas of missing veneer, black leather inserts to upper compartments may not be original to piece, some gilt bronze trim with replacement screws, presenting very well. Lot includes key.
