    Description

    Trilobite Fossil
    Zilchovaspis rugosa
    Devonian
Djebel Issmour area, Anti-Atlas Mountains, Morocco

Some enthusiasts may know this Trilobite better as Odontochile, but it is actually Zilchovaspsis. From Morocco, the variety is often presented in a "flying" mode. With a pronounced 90 degree angle of its presentation, this fine example does appear as if in motion. The eyes are large and in good condition, and the long, curving spines are present and intact as well. The black ancient arthropod is well-defined with excellent details across all aspects of the body. The diagnostic characteristics of this taxon are the parabolic shaped cephalon and pygidial spine. This is an ideal size for a collectible specimen, and most examples like this one are likely to show excessive restoration which this major piece does not exhibit.
    Overall Measurements: 4.00 x 3.37 x 2.22 inches (10.15 x 8.55 x 5.64 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
