Description
Trilobite FossilReedops deckeri
Devonian
Haragan Formation
Coal County, Oklahoma, USA
1.92 x 1.63 x 1.11 inches (4.87 x 4.14 x 2.83 cm)
With its large compound eyes and compact, robust form, Reedops deckeri is one of the most recognizable Trilobites from the Devonian deposits of Morocco. This specimen preserves fine detail across the cephalon, thoracic segments, and pygidium, highlighting the intricate exoskeleton of these ancient marine arthropods. The prominent eyes, composed of numerous individual lenses, remain particularly well defined and provide a fascinating glimpse into one of the earliest complex visual systems in the fossil record. Warm tan coloration contrasts attractively with the light matrix, enhancing the fossil's natural relief and sculptural appearance. Beautifully displayed on a prepared matrix base, this classic Moroccan Trilobite is both scientifically significant and visually appealing.
Estimate: $300 - up.
