Spiny Trilobites from Morocco are very popular for obvious reasons, and this example of Dicranurus monstrosus confirms why. Hewn out of a stippled matrix, the "bug" is highly dimensional with a quite complex appearance. The matte black prehistoric arthropod features considerable restoration, but the work performed has resulted in a visually appealing offering dating to the Lower Devonian. This specimen exhibits numerous spines flowing from the body in a dynamic and fluid manner allowing the viewer to easily imagine this Paleozoic predator patrolling the ancient seafloor. Representative of the variety, this heavily prepared fossil is quite visually striking. The undulating matrix is dark tan and houses the fossil beautifully.
