This creatively displayed example of Zlichovaspis rugosa comes from the Devonian deposits of Morocco and has been prepared in an elevated pose that gives a sense of movement across an ancient seafloor. The deep black exoskeleton is mounted on a narrow column of rock rising from a tan base, creating the impression that the Trilobite is almost floating above the matrix. Measuring just under 3 inches (7.6 cm) in length, it shows crisp body segmentation along with a well-defined head and gracefully curved cheek spines. Careful restoration and stabilization have brought out the detail while maintaining the overall form of the fossil. The result is a dynamic and sculptural presentation of this classic Paleozoic Trilobite.
