This Trilobite from the Upper Devonian of Morocco represents the Psychopyge variety. The fossil on rock is ideally perched on a gray matrix, which serves to highlight its incredible detail, rich black coloration, and expert preparation. This type of ancient arthropod features an elongated protuberance that extends out from the tip of the head. Delicate spines rise from the central lobe, of which one or two are missing, and others are slightly worn down but in place. The numerous, curving spines that come off the creature add a complexity and beauty to this prehistoric marine lifeform. This seems to be a superlative specimen especially compared to the majority of Moroccan examples that evidence considerable restoration. This fossil measures nearly 5 inches (13 cm) in length and makes for one exceptional collectible display piece.
