This rare Trilobite comes from the 390 million year old Jbel Gara el Zquilma formation south of Foum Zquid in Morocco. Trilobites from this locality are exquisitely preserved and while several species are commercially available, their taxonomy has never been formalized. The jet-black exoskeleton of this typically excellent specimen contrasts beautifully with the light color of the matrix and emphasizes the long delicate genal and axial spines. Prepared by Jeff Hammer to museum standards, this specimen exhibits the finest detail, from the pustulose texture to the undulating ribbed surface of the thorax. Such small delicate creatures are incredibly difficult to extract from the ground and to prepare, making this a superlative example.
