Of the seemingly endless varieties of Trilobites (especially from Morocco!!) Crotalocephalus is certainly one of the better known and more easily recognizable of these ancient sea creatures so associated with the Paleozoic Era. Although having been extinct for well over 300 million years, this variety of the "alien-like" bugs that once dominated their undersea ecosystem - look more like something from outer space - than ancient ocean scavengers from some prehistoric world. The first organism to develop a compound eye, Trilobites have almost universal appeal and are studied, and appreciated, by collectors worldwide.
