Likely one of the largest slabs of the Psaronius brasiliensis tree fern, this massive piece would make one incredible tabletop. The fabulous example measures 28.75 inches (73 cm) at it maximum diameter. This spectacular specimen is almost 3 inches (7.62 cm) thick with a unique, odd, and irregular shape giving it a rather fluid appearance. The well-defined vascular structure of the ancient wood shows quite intricate patterns where arcs of xylem tissue have been preserved. Compared to other fossil tree ferns like Tietea singularis, the internal structure has much more sinuous, than round or ovoid shaped, vascular bundles. This sizable piece of petrified tree fern has a subtle coloration with creams, tans and even salmon pinks highlighting the smooth polished surface that was once obviously porous.
