    Description

    Petrified Wood Slab
    Incense-Cedar
    Lower Miocene
    Jarbridge Rhyolite Formation
    Hubbard Basin, Elko County, Nevada
    11.42 x 9.25 x 0.54 inches (29.00 x 23.50 x 1.38 cm)

Aficionados and collectors of Petrified Wood will be rather familiar with "Hubbard Basin" material which has a very characteristic look to it. Amazing soft blues simply pop off the surface of this "winnowing fan" shaped example from the highly collectible locality. The blue areas go almost white and are bordered by light and dark brown which serve to frame the more colorful parts of this sizable cut and polished slab. A big piece by size and weight, this fine specimen is an ideal representation of the vaunted material. Edges of rough and craggy rind outline the leafy specimen. A small crystalline pocket adorns the glossy surface, and lapidary examples of fossilized wood have a natural "ceramic" nature to them. This is a true collector slab.
