There is certainly a wide variety of Petrified Wood, even from the Chinle Formation of Arizona known for its colorful "rainbow" variety. Often pieces have a unique feature that distinguishes them somewhat from the majority of other specimens. This slice may be one such case in point. The near perfectly round slab is predominantly gray-blue over the majority of the polished surface. Even though interspersed with reds and natural interstices, the "uniform" 9 inch (23 cm) slice has an unexpected consistency to its look.
