    Araucarioxylon arizonicum
    Upper Triassic, Chinle Formation
    Arizona, USA

The "rainbow" colored Petrified Wood from the Chinle Formation in Arizona is widely prized for one main reason: the vibrant colors. While the remnant of any 200 million year old fossilized tree should attract attention, it is the myriad of bright hues that give this specific type of Petrified Wood its value. This fabulous slab perfectly showcases the most sought after colors of Araucarioxylon arizonicum and has an unusual and appealing feature - its upper surface is undulating, in contrast to most slabs which have both flat top and bottom surfaces. This hand polished feature adds complexity to the piece and allows for a greater appreciation of the color and luster. It also has a wonderfully preserved bark exterior, is a foot in diameter, and can be displayed either horizontally or vertically. The back has been sawn flat to provide a stable base. All in all, it is a fine example of classic "rainbow" Petrified Wood from this world-famous locality.
    Overall Measurements: 12.88 x 12 x 1.25 inches (32.70 x 30.48 x 3.18 cm)
    Offered at no reserve.
