DescriptionPetrified Wood Bookends
This spectacular pair of fossilized bookends comes from the world-renowned Chinle Formation of Arizona, whichs dates to the Triassic 200 million years ago. They are simply superlative. This material truly has the classic look for this locality: a colorful array of different hues so associated with that famous "rainbow" wood. Pieces like these are not seen much anymore, and the pair has the appearance of a set that was cut and polished quite some time ago. The bookends stand a full 13 inches (33 cm) in height and are substantial enough to hold up most any books. A myriad of reds, oranges and yellows combine to give the pair a splendid surface which is further punctuated with accents of magentas and blues. The rind has been preserved and looks rather bark-like, and the bookends are a full 2 inches (5 cm) thick. This symmetrical pair has a very unique shape which adds to its overall charm.
Overall Measurements: 19.8 x 13.3 x 2.2 inches (50.2 x 33.7 x 5.6 cm)
