The petrified Sequoia material used to craft this decorative sphere fossilized nearly 56 million years ago. When the Sequoia tree died, it was buried in soil with low oxygen, and all its original organic material was replaced slowly by various minerals. The minerals created interesting color banding, while keeping the integrity of the tree's internal structure visible. Seen in this Petrified Wood sphere are lovely earthy tones including taupe, rust brown, and chocolate brown. This is simply a great piece of Sequoiadendron.
