This pleasant slab of Palmoxylon from Indonesia resembles the "black heart" material, which happens to be the state rock of Texas. This gorgeous elongated slice consists of a bold black core bordered by many bands of lightly colored tan, yellow and gold hues. The unpolished side is, nearly, as attractive as the polished one, with the obvious exception of the reflective aspect. The slab features a subtle "graduation" on edge as the rim of the piece slopes slightly and tapers in an offset manner. This is over 10 inches (25 cm) wide.
