This nicely shaped end cut of Petrified Cycad out of Colorado features an intense, polished display face with an abundance of contrasting hues, namely blues, and tans, with a flame-like pattern. This example of Monanthes dating to the Cretaceous represents the "monanthesic" variety and displays a wonderfully textural exterior of mottled sandy coloration. The smooth window has a bit of taper and is not completely flat, and a couple of smaller cavities, as well as several reddish highlights to the color palette, round out the numerous charms of this piece measuring 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) across. The combination of shape, form, and color make this a highly collectible cycad but also a polished end cut with appeal.
