This colossal roundish slab of Petrified Wood measures a whopping 28 inches (71 cm) at its maximum diameter. Dating to the Triassic Period some 200 million years ago, and out of the Chinle Formation of Arizona, known for producing quality examples of such 'rainbow-colored' material, the extremely thick piece has a reinforced backing making it suitable for use as a tabletop. The magnificent specimen has a mix of primarily red, magenta, orange, and mustard colors, complemented by secondary black, white, and blue hues. A reflective polished makes the display face even more dramatic, and the rind is great, with only a small area of conglomerate on one section of the edge. Pieces this large and heavy are rare.
