A fine cross-section of Petrified Conifer Wood, exhibiting the vivid coloration for which material from the Chinle Formation is celebrated. The specimen displays deep red hues intermingled with warm browns, blacks, and beige, a palette that has earned this variety the nickname "Rainbow Wood" among collectors. Cut from the fossilized remains of Araucarioxylon arizonicum, Arizona's State Fossil, the slab has been expertly polished to a smooth, high finish, enhancing both the grain structure and chromatic contrast. Its rounded contour, preserving the original outline of the ancient tree trunk, adds further rarity-most examples having been compressed over millions of years into oval shapes. Prepared for use as a decorative table top or display specimen, this example combines scientific interest and interior appeal, representing one of the most visually striking fossil woods from the Triassic.
