This fossil tooth comes from a Woolly Mammoth and is big, like the State of Texas it came from, not to mention an impressive complete specimen with nice preservation. The light brownish fossil represents one single tooth from the massive proboscidean with an extended root core and a dynamic, preserved grinding surface with the classic undulating and alternating banding of ridges with a whitish coloration. The large example offers a relatively flat top then broadly tapers down to the end of the root structure. This representation is iconic for the Pleistocene deposits of Texas and the remnants of the Mammuthus primigenius found there. This singular offering has size and completeness as the most telling attributes.
