An obvious key component for any fossil skull, and especially any jaw section, is the number and quality of the teeth. This piece of jawbone once belonged to a gargantuan known as a Titanothere that roamed the great Badlands of the American West. Some restoration as expected has been performed to get the specimen into its current state, and the sizable nature is worth noting given its length of over 13 inches (33 cm). This bony piece features the classic stark whitish color of so many White River Badlands fossils, but the real stars of this fossil are three massive molars in the partial jaw section. All three examples of the prehistoric dentition are virtually complete and exhibit a brownish-gray coloration. The magnitude of the piece makes it compelling and conjures up thoughts of what kind of 'beast' this must have been.
