While Florida may not often be thought of as "old" geologically, it has given us some fantastic fossils from the Pleistocene. This cross-section of a Mammoth Tooth has been polished on both surfaces to highlight the dental remnant from the ancient Ice Age mammal. The blue-gray color of the "internal" edging contrasts sharply with the overall whitish-tan of the piece. Teeth are supremely important in terms of the fossil record, and these kinds of fossils are obviously collectible for a variety of reasons.
