    In these days of accelerated climate change and alleged global warming, the Siberian tundra 'on top of the world' is steadily receding, unearthing a treasure trove of prehistoric remains of which this Lot is a superb example. Over thousands of years, burial in the ice has imparted us to this slender tusk. It has a gorgeous patina of creams, browns and black and natural fissures in the ivory highlighted by inclusions to form a beautiful crazed pattern over the whole surface and length of the piece. There are small areas of restoration (as is often the case, the tip needed some care) but its gorgeous coloring, classic double curve and good root section make it a superb piece, measuring 57½ inches along the outside curve and presented on a wooden display stand.
