This golden-brown skull is from an ancient wolf that lived during the Pleistocene or "Ice Age" in what is now Alaska. The piece has been expertly restored and prepped in this fine presentation. Presented on a wonderful metal base, the maxilla and mandible rest in ideal position highlighting the characteristics of the lupine example. The teeth exhibit a lot of "natural" wear, and the mandible indicates a high level of restoration, which is typical with vertebrate skulls such as this one. The skull is not heavily fossilized, but that is also to be expected with a specimen so "young" geologically.
