DescriptionPAIR OF "POLISHED" FOSSIL SHARK TEETH
Charcharocles (Carcharodon) megalodon
Morgan and Ashepoo Rivers, South Carolina
This pair of fossil Shark Teeth from the great megalodon ("big tooth") are from South Carolina and were procured from rivers by divers. Most teeth in such environments are worn down by the turbid conditions. These teeth have been "polished" amounting to them being filled, then polished to essentially bring them back to original condition. The larger of the teeth measures an impressive 5.38 inches on the slant edge, while the smaller is a respectable 4.5 inches. This pair presents a nice contrast in teeth.
