Description

    Megalodon Shark Tooth
    Carcharocles megalodon
    Miocene
    Morgan River
    South Carolina, USA

At just under the 6 inch (15.24 cm) threshold, this Megalodon tooth is still quite massive. It also happens to be quite appealing with a brownish tone unlike most of the grayish-black examples of the fossil shark teeth. Well balanced with just the slightest of lateral curvature, this tooth is in very good condition with only a tiny patch of enamel missing from the bluish-brown front surface. The reverse side, which has a greenish-brown coloration is almost pristine. The brownish root which is fairly complete on both sides and exhibits only a shallow cracking across the front and some erosion wear on the back both of which are normal and to be expected with an example of this size. The well-preserved specimen features the classic shape and form of a Megalodon tooth and has fine serrations adding to the appeal of the piece. This is simply a quality fossil shark tooth that also happens to be huge. This is a collector level specimen. The robust and substantial fossil dental remnant comes with a custom wood and brass stand for display.
