Description

Megalodon Shark Tooth
Otodus megalodon
Miocene
Hawthorn Formation
Cooper & Wando Rivers
South Carolina, USA
4.22 x 3.01 x 0.78 inches (10.72 x 7.64 x 1.99 cm)

A classic example of Otodus megalodon, this impressive shark tooth displays strong overall preservation with a broad triangular crown and nice serrations along the cutting edges. Soft gray and cream tones wash across the enamel, complemented by darker vertical striations that add depth and visual character. The bourlette remains well-preserved, anchoring the crown with a textured band of warm earthy coloration. Subtle wear is present, lending authenticity without diminishing the tooth's display appeal. This striking relic of one of prehistory's most formidable predators would make a compelling addition to any fossil collection.

[Scale: 2-inch Great White tooth]

Estimate: $400 - up.
