DescriptionLARGE PREDATORY FISH FOSSIL
Green River Formation, Kemmerer, Wyoming
Cruising through the great lakes that once comprised the Green River Formation, the Phareodus was a predatory fish that preyed on smaller fish like the Knightia, Priscacara, and other smaller fish. The present specimen is from the famous fish quarries of Kemmerer, Wyoming, and has been professionally prepared to show the fine detail of preservation; a bony skull with sharp teeth, detailed dorsal fins and fine tail. A part of the pectoral fin has been professionally restored on this otherwise outstanding fish fossil. The predatory fish measures 11 ¾ inches in length and is a nice orange contrast to the tan limestone matrix measuring 20 ½ x 12 ½ inches.
Estimate: $600 - $800.
