GREEN RIVER FOSSILS SHOWCASED IN MAGNIFICENT CUSTOM WOOD BOX

This magnificent box is composed of a variety of woods including mesquite burl, black walnut, cocobolo and hickory which makes for contrasting sections each of which is gorgeous in its own right. The mix of brown, tan and red over the entire box is truly magnificent. However, the treasure found here is a fully prepared top quality fish fossil of Priscacara from the Green River Formation of Wyoming which dates to the Eocene some 56 million years ago. This particular fish is one of the less common varieties found in this noted locality and is flanked by a pair of fossil leaves from Utah that perfectly balance the inlaid lid. This is a fine collection of fossils displayed in a lid! The box measures 15.75 x 6 x 4.5 inches (40.01 x 15.24 x 11.43 cm). The inner dimensions measure 14.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 inches (36.83 x 11.43 x 6.35 cm).
