Description

    FOSSIL SHARK TOOTH
    Carcharocles megalodon
    Miocene
    Morgan River, South Carolina, USA

Few fossils have such broad appeal as a shark tooth, and the mere mention of the term "Megalodon" is enough to elicit an intense response from the most serious of collectors to the youngest of children. An unquestioned king of the undersea domain, the ancestral Great White was a beast exponentially more impressive than even its formidable contemporary relative. Given the cartilaginous skeletons of sharks, teeth are the primarily fossil evidence ever found of these majestic ocean predators. Any top specimen, especially one that measures six inches (or above), such as this superlative tooth, is a sought-after item. Having pristine teeth serrations visible and tactile, this exceptional piece is in excellent condition. The overall quality is top tier, and the size of this tooth alone makes it worthy of any collection. The piece comes with a custom stand of wood and brass, which both attractively and effectively allows the fossil to be displayed.
    Overall Measurements: 6 x 1.25 x 5.57 inches (15.24 x 3.175 x 14.16 cm)
